The makers of the forthcoming feature film The Lamb are
still moving ahead with the project, despite the fact that
the film's soundtrack, In...The Life Of Chris Gaines, was
released almost two years ago. Garth Brooks, who recorded
the tracks as the voice of fictitious rock star Gaines, is
rumored to play the singer in the film, but according to his
spokesperson that decision is still up in the air. Because
there was no solid connection to the film upon the album's
release, In...The Life Of Chris Gaines caused confusion among
critics and fans alike, as Brooks explains to LAUNCH: "He's
a character in a movie for Paramount pictures, and we were
hired to do the music for it, and that's it. From there came,
'Garth wants to be this guy', and if you've ever heard the
music, it's a blast. It's the hardest project I've ever done--never
want to work that hard again. It's the hardest you've worked
in music if there is such a thing as working hard in music.
It's the hardest that I've ever worked."
Brooks is, however, considering recording the soundtrack
to The Lamb when it finally does come out. There is a greater
likelihood of Brooks completing the soundtrack than acting
in the film, according to the singer's publicist Karen Byrd.
Brooks blames the slow-turning wheels of Hollywood for the
mixed response to the soundtrack's early release, as he tells
us: "The movie is still yet to come out. It was pre for
the movie and then the soundtrack was to come out when the
movie came out. The problem is Hollywood moves very, very
slowly compared to here, and the first draft wasn't one that
was acceptable, so now everything slowed down and we set ourselves
up to get pretty waxed."
Production on The Lamb is tentatively scheduled to begin
this fall, according to reports. |
