Garth Brooks will receive ASCAP's Golden Note Award on
March 12 at a reception and dinner to be held on Capitol Hill.
The award recognizes Brooks's outstanding contributions to
American music as a performer and songwriter.
The invitation-only event will be hosted by Marilyn Bergman
and attended by members of Congress. The evening will be highlighted
by a musical tribute to Brooks featuring friends and admirers
from the songwriting and performing world.
The ASCAP Golden Note Award is one of the most prestigious
honors that the Society bestows on its members. Past recipients
have included Elton John, Tom Petty, Stevie Wonder, and Andre
Previn.
Brooks was originally set to receive the Golden Note award
on September 11, but due to the tragedies in New York City,
Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania, the event was postponed
until March 11. |
