Garth Brooks has declined an offer from the Colorado Rockies
baseball team to join them at spring training this year, citing
commitments to his three daughters, Taylor, August, and Ally.
"Sure, we are disappointed, but he has to do what he
feels is right for himself, and that is spending time with
his children," Rockies general partner Jerry McMorris
told the Rocky Mountain News.
Brooks made spring training appearances in the past with
the San Diego Padres and The New York Mets to provide money
for his Touch 'Em All Foundation, a baseball-related charity
that has donated more than $20 million to children's charities
over three years.
Brooks's Touch 'Em All Foundation recently changed its name
to the Teammates For Kids Foundation to involve athletes from
all sports. |
